The Lakewood Ranch High football team finished first in Class 7A in the Academic Team Champions for the fall.
The Mustangs, who were the only first-place finishers, were one of four area teams to finish among the top five in their class, joining Bradenton Christian (third in 2A), Riverview (fifth in 8A) and Venice (fifth in 6A).
Three girls golf teams were second: Lakewood Ranch in 3A, Southeast in 2A and Saint Stephen’s in 1A. Charlotte’s boys golf team was third in 3A.
In volleyball, Bradenton Christian was second in 3A and Riverview third in 8A.
Lakewood Ranch’s boys cross country team was fourth in 3A.
Other area teams also made the list.
Teams had to score a 3.0 grade-point average or above to make the list.
In the team standings, Bradenton Christian is third in Class 2A. Lakewood Ranch is tied for fourth in 7A. Riverview is seventh in 8A. Charlotte is eighth in 6A. Saint Stephen’s is 10th in 3A.
